June 2021 – Visions of Inclusion
OUT Maine has partnered with Center for Maine Contemporary Art (CMCA) in Rockland and Erickson Fields in Rockport to bring LGBTQ+ art and writing to Midcoast Maine during Pride Month.
The theme for the art and writing exhibitions follows Rockland Main Street’s “Visions of Inclusion.” According to Rockland Main Street “in order to have a resilient community, it is integral that all identities are included, celebrated, and given a platform to shape our future…expressing what it means to be a welcoming community and depicting one’s visions for the future.”
The CMCA and Erickson Fields have provided space for youth of all ages (22 and under) to display their art, photography, and writing to share their own Visions of Inclusion with Midcoast Maine.
Youth Pride Art Show
For the month of June the Center for Maine Contemporary Art will display 10”X10” 2D pieces by LGBTQ+ and allied youth (ages 22 and younger) in their windows on Winter Street in Rockland.
During the month of June, Maine Coast Heritage Trust will display 8.5″X11″ portrait-oriented writing, art and photos by LGBTQ+ and allied youth (ages 22 and younger) along their Pride Walk at Erickson Fields Preserve (164 West St, Rockport). The Pride Walk is a series of 16 display cases along a wooded trail next to MCHT’s Teen Ag Crew’s vegetable garden.
An Inclusive World for Everyone
Help create a poster that illustrates your vision of an inclusive world for everyone! The sooner you submit your art piece (by mail, or file attachment) the more likely it will be included in the poster.
Submit Your Art & Writing for these Shows!
You can submit writing, art, and photos electronically, by mail, or by drop off. Your piece will be displayed where it fits best (see above). Laminated copies will be made of art and writing to be displayed at the StoryWalk to protect the original art.
