OUT's youth launch party on Friday night was a rocking event ! With music spilling out onto the street and over 40 youth attending, it was a great night at our Rockland office. Special thanks to Random Ideas, Yard Sail, Natalie on Synthesizer and Dick Richter for a wonderful evening! Hope to see all of you at our weekly drop Wednesday's 3-5. Details outMaine.org
OUT Maine is a non-profit, youth-driven organization dedicated to the support & empowerment of LGBTQ young people in Rural Maine - in their schools, in their communities, & in their lives.
Since 1996, we have operated a drop-in center in Rockland, ME. Drop-in is a safe space for youth aged 12-22 to explore and express their identities at any point in their journey, a place where they can find supportive peers and adult allies, confidential discussion groups, LGBTQ-centric projects and activities, and a place to be themselves free of judgement.
In addition to drop-in, OUT! is working to bring GSTAs (Gay-Straight-Trans Alliances) to schools in rural Maine, as well as reaching out to parents & community members to foster safe spaces for youth where they live, beyond the walls of our drop-in center. We believe that the world should be their safe space.
