As Dr. Suess once said, “Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better, it’s not.” Though The Lorax probably won’t be in your SAT writing section, the words remain true.

The Youth Policy Board is a place to change the problems you see every single day; have support and guidance in creating a group of peers; identify a social issue relating to substance use, bullying or mental health; and research that topic.

The goal — to identify potential solutions and work to implement them in your community! If you have a project you want to work on, or a few friends who would be interested, reach out to OUT Maine and see if your school or community can create the next Youth Policy Board!

Youth must be between the ages of 11 and 18.
Participants are paid a stipend.

Ages 11 – 18

Our Youth Taking Action Groups take MANY shapes! Any program where OUT Maine supports students and teaches them to address issues of concern — starting a GSTA, achieving gender neutral bathrooms, school policy changes, etc. — meets this definition! Do you have a problem relating to your experience as an LGBTQ+ youth? Want to make change in your school? Do you think we can help? We’d love to hear from you!
