At OUT Maine, we have an ambitious goal: to create more welcoming and affirming communities for Maine’s diverse queer youth in all of their intersectional identities.

No other Maine organization does the work we do supporting rural queer adolescents throughout this crucial period in their development. We take a statewide, three-pronged approach: support LGBTQ+ youth and their families and allies; empower youth to be their most authentic selves; and educate health care providers, educators, clergy and other professionals to be supportive adults who help change young people’s lives.

OUT Maine’s work gives everyone a role in building resilience and life skills to lift up queer youth. OUT Maine. Building the welcoming and affirming communities urgently needed for Maine’s LGBTQ+ youth.

GUIDES FROM MAINE FAMILY PLANNING

The Maine Youth in Care Bill of Rights states that young people in foster, adoptive, and kinship care have the right to learn about their sexuality in a safe and supportive environment. The Working with Youth in Care Toolkit and Working with Youth in out-of-home placement or experiencing homelessness are designed to help make that right a reality.
