Haystack/OUT Maine
Immersive Studio-based Arts Weekend
We are excited to announce that through our partnership with Haystack Mountain School of Crafts the Haystack/OUT Maine Immersive Studio-based Arts Weekend is returning this September!
Celebrated LGBTQ+ artists from around the country will teach workshops to help empower and inspire 70 Maine LGBTQ+ high school students to see themselves in their fullest capacity and model an open and out life in the arts. Students will work and learn alongside one another in a safe and supportive community. Students, faculty, and chaperones will live on campus for three days and, in addition to the workshops, participate in evening presentations and discussion groups facilitated by teaching artists.
2022 Haystack OUT Maine teaching faculty include: Rachel David (blacksmithing), Steven Frost (fiber), George Bowes (ceramics), Rebekah Frank (metals), Sylvie Rosenthal (wood), and Hope Rovelto (graphics).
High schools from throughout the State of Maine are invited to nominate students for this program. If you are a student, parent, teacher, or school administrator and would like additional information or a nomination form please see below.
